Where Winning is everything!

Jones Family Loft is one of the longest and most successful names in the US pigeon sport. The Family has been in the pigeons since WWll where it all started with Robert “Bobby” Jones. The current team consist of Joey, Phyllis, Kevin, Paula, Kaylee, Teagan, Karsyn and Corbin Jones.

Winning at every level in every competition at any distance is the primary focus and always has been. We test our pigeons as young birds in club, combine and futurities at the racing loft in Texas. We also test our young birds in some of the largest and most competitive One Loft Races in the country. To even further test our young birds and see what they can handle we fly them with some of our test lofts around the country. We have test lofts in Kentucky, Carolina, California, Illinois and three in Texas. Starting in 2022 we will be competing in Florida’s GHC as well. The level in which we test our young birds allows us to confirm that they can be successful in any part of the country under any loft management system. This allows us to quickly and accurately remove the birds from our breeding program that are not meeting and exceeding our high level of expectations. We feel that putting our breeders and their children through this extremely rigorous program is what allows them to have so much success when they are purchased for breeders for other fancier’s stock lofts. As old birds the expectations and task does not get any easier, the old bird team is expected to win from 75 to 550 miles and most years they are flown in two clubs and combines at the same time. One combine from the North and one club from the East. Only the smartest and toughest pigeons can handle this task while having to orientate quickly and fly fast to win.

We are currently breeding from NINE (9) First Ace Pigeons in which case most of them were NOT flown at our loft under our management system. This is something that we are extremely proud of as it is one thing to win only because of one’s ability to handle but when others win with your pigeons we feel this is the ultimate level of success. At this point and at the current status of our breeding program only the highest level of pigeons from around the world will keep us heading in an upward trend. We put endless hours of research into each acquisition before we will bring a bird in to our program. At the end of the day regardless of cost if the pigeon does not perform to our level of expectations or raise the bar within two years it will be eliminated.

As important as our pigeons are to us it is even more important that we are starting our kids young with the pigeons. Letting them enjoy every possible minute with us that this great sport has to offer. Teaching them responsibilities, learning how to judge quality in animals, explaining that even though both parents were champions doesn’t always mean that the baby will make the cut. For Kaylee (12) she is all about the droppers and making sure “Rosie” is well fed and taken care of. For Teagan (7) when we get an opportunity to go to the racing loft he wants to check on the children from his three breeding cocks “Lightning”, “Thunder” and “Bolt” and see how their children are progressing. For Karsyn (4) her main job is to glass the eggs with me, she can tell you if the egg is a fertile egg or if it is a yoke egg. And for Corbin (2) well he just walks around saying “here babies, dad bring me babies, I play with the babies”. The opportunity to use pigeons as a positive learning experience for kids is endless.
